Importance of Air Washer Systems

Equipment that scrubs air to improvise the air quality in the surroundings is called as Air Washer System. This system controls the climate and the quality of the environmental air. The right equipment will be selected as an under powered device to maintain itself with the air flow and the equipment's that will fail due to overloading.

It works by removing the humidity out of the air by ventilation after reaching till the dew point after being passed over chilled water. Along with humidity, the dust and dirt will also get precipitated from the machine. Once the air gets out of the machine it is much drier and cooler which is more appropriate for inhalation as it is free from any particulate matter.

However, if the surrounding atmosphere already has dry air then it is the air washer that increases the humidity of the air. A fan is not enough to draw air over cool water to introduce humidity in the environment. Extra features will be added in the design of the air washer system to purify the air.

The load on air washers will be reduced by pre-filtering and designing to maintain the level of temperature and humidity on its own. The energy on performance standards should be cut down. In general, air washers have different parts in its system that is spray nozzles, eliminator section as well as a sump.

Spray section will bestows water droplets to the air or may remove them from air along with the solid particles whereas eliminator section is ‘W’ in shape that plays a major role in removal of moisture and air particulates. In addition, Sump collects solids, lint, dust, and water in its basin.

The Air Washer Systems collectively performs various functions such as cooling, humidification, dehumidification, cleaning of air particles and hyper-ionization of air.

The accomplishment of humidification is done by spray water re circulation, washing pre-heated air and heating spray water. The inside air gets humidified if the outside air is saturated with moisture. The low humidity air attracts moisture and releases the washed air from the system.

The necessity of humidification is to condition the operation of the plant. The air washer functions as a cooling tower as the water inside will cycle up solids in the same way as done in the cooling tower.

A dehumidifier will remove water from the air and generally occurs naturally in late Spring, Summer and very early Autumn. The level of solids will be dropped once dehumidification starts. Since the water level reaches an overflow stage hence to remove this surplus of water from the Air washer.
